Eusebius reckons this Epistle, as indeed all the Catholic Epistles, except First John and First Peter, among the Antilegomena. The earliest Fathers who mention it are Tertullian (de habit. mul. c. 3) and Clemens Alexandrinus (Strom. iii. p. 431, Paedag. iii. 8, p. 239, ed. Sylb.), who has also commented on it.
